Spreading a little hope ❤️‍🩹

I believe in the transformative power of literature, especially in times of despair.

Hi Reader,

To anyone who needs it post-election: I’m sending you a big virtual hug.

In times of despair, I find hope in literature. In the past week, I’ve felt prouder than ever to write books that champion equality and democracy. My next two books, WICKED DARLINGS (a thriller) and THE REBEL GIRLS OF ROME (a WW2 historical), might be very different on the surface, but they both feature queer female protagonists fighting bravely against oppressive power structures. I’m energized and excited to share these stories with the world in 2025.

For now, I wanted to share two resources you might find useful: a book club guide and an educator’s guide for my debut novel, THE PAPER GIRL OF PARIS, which may also be a source of hope in these difficult times. The book jumps back and forth in time between Alice, who exposes her family’s long-buried secrets, and Adalyn, who joins the French Resistance in Nazi-occupied Paris. At its core, it’s about standing up for what’s right, even when it’s hard to do.

The latest book news:

  • THE REVENGE GAME, my YA thriller about a feminist revolution at a historically all-boys’ boarding school, and the dark side of a hopeless romantic’s seemingly perfect love story, is out in paperback Dec. 10. If you order it from Astoria Bookshop, you can get a personalized signed copy!

  • WICKED DARLINGS got a great review from Kirkus, who called it “impossible to put down” and “a twisting thriller that tackles grief head-on.” You can read the entire review here. Thank you, Kirkus!

  • In case you missed it on IG, I revealed the stunning cover of THE REBEL GIRLS OF ROME, designed by Jessie Gang. IT’S SO GORGEOUS!!!

And that’s all…for now. 👀
